Artist's Comments

i haven't drawn kabuki in ages and i gave her a new set and style of clothing. different set of colors too. cropped blazer+hoodie and a tunic length long t-shirt with golden koi fish. the shirt and belt sitting at her hips make her torso look kinda long. (i also screwed up on her choker. oops!)

compositioned it in a similar way to "pretty in pink - sugar" image.

materials: 11x14in bristol, markers, color pencils, and microns

It's hard to believe that golden koi - kabuki by *buki is traditional media, it looks so smooth and is well-blended. The shadows on the jacket and the details such as the jeweled belt and the koi on her shirt are just a few of the elements that make this such an amazing piece. I like the patterning on the shirt, and the pose has a lot of personality. Neato!

Overall gorgeousness is all I see. belt buckle is pretty snazzy and the shirt is colored so wonderfully, makes me want one irl XD.

I wonder whats shes looking at? because it seems she may not have expected it, excellent piece all round I reckon

She's so beautiful!! You're marvelous with those colors! So do you color with markers (Trias?) first and then shade over it with pencil to make it pop out?

Ooh, I love her shirt! I wish it were real! I'm glad to see Kabuki again and she's looking fantastic. The coloring is outstanding and I love her pose! And of course, I still adore Pretty In Pink :D

yup (i also use prismas and copics). i lay on the markers first because marker ink won't sink into the paper properly if there's a layer of color pencil on top. if i don't have a darker shade or if the shade is way too dark i then use color pencils. :)
